Umbrellas up everybody because the rainy season is drawing near!
The weather bureau said the effects of the El Niño weather phenomenon can still be felt all the way to August but we can’t deny it, the skies have turned dark and they have wept several times in the last couple of days.
The rainy season is not that bad though. Staying home on your rainy days off in your pajama with a mug of favorite coffee, tea or chocolate drink is the best way to let the time slip without any care in the world.
But… if you’re like many of us who really needs to get up and show up at work or in school then better do what the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts do — be prepared!
Cebu weather is quite a challenge and with humid/hot hours turning into overcast skies and rainy days, you better be equipped with the necessary arsenal before you go out of your home, office or school.
Bring your umbrella
We didn’t start this entry without emphasizing your most important weapon against the unexpected downpour: the umbrella! Just imagine crossing Colon street in downtown Cebu and sudden heavy rains ruin your well-ironed uniform. It’s a disaster! To avoid this, consider putting your collapsible umbrellas in your bag now! Never leave home without it.
Stay hydrated
Staying hydrated in the rainy season is just as important as the summer months! In summer, your body loses much water due to perspiration. During the rainy season, most people do not drink much water because they are not often thirsty because the temperature drops. But remember: rainy seasons can be humid too and humidity can rip off the water from your body leaving you weak and lethargic. Drink eight glasses (or more!) of water every day whether it’s the summer or rainy months. Better yet, try building a water-drinking habit by installing in your phone an app that reminds you to drink water!
Go all out on your rainy day outfit
Get them out from whatever treasure trove they are hiding because this season is the time to wear them. Get ready for the rainy days by having your reliable and trusted jackets in your office. Also, invest in a reusable raincoat, which is extremely helpful to keep your valuables dry.
Bring out those rain boots!
With the rain comes the concern of flooding in Metro Cebu’s main thoroughfares — and for sure, you have been worrying about the possibility of being stuck in traffic and wading through murky waters.
Keep your feet and lower leg dry with rain boots! Gone are the days when your only option is to wear a pair of black and boring ones. These days, several options abound from neon pairs to multi-colored, multi-designed ones. Just take your pick!
Check the weather
Looking up the sky to predict the weather by virtue of the clouds’ appearance is not often times effective. In fact, it: can be unrealiable.
