PRISAA-7 has a very good chance of snaring its fourth-straight overall championship title in the National Prisaa on April 6 to 12 at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City.

This was what University of Cebu athletic director Bernard Ricablanca said in a recent interview.

He said that with Prisaa-7’s strong showing during the regional Prisaa meet recently, the rare four-peat is very achievable.

“We have very strong teams for the Prisaa National meet so we have a very big advantage of winning our fourth-straight national title,” Ricablanca said.
Ricablanca likewise confirmed that it is now official that the Prisaa will also be holding competitions in the secondary division.

He said Prisaa-7 will be participating in five events in the secondary division. These are track and field (boys and girls), volleyball girls, beach volleyball girls, chess (boys and girls) and swimming (boys and girls).

Of the five secondary division competitions, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu will be representing Prisaa-7 in four. These are track and field, beach volleyball, chess and swimming. Southwestern University will banner Prisaa-7 in volleyball girls.

With the addition of the secondary events, Prisaa-7’s contingent will now balloon to around 370 or 380 athletes from the previous 350.

When asked what teams will be their closest competitors, Ricablanca cited Prisaa teams from Region 4A (Calabarzon) and the host team, Southern Mindanao (Davao region).

The National Prisaa will hold its opening ceremony on April 6 before the formal start of the games on the 7th.

The Prisaa-7 delegation will be participating in all the events in the collegiate division with most of the representatives coming from the schools of Cebu City while the rest are from Bohol and Dumaguete City.

“Aside from the sporting competitions, we also have representatives in academic events such as oration and declamation, song solo and duet competitions and the Mutya ng Prisaa beauty pageant,” Ricablanca said.
