Louie Aballe, 35, walked to freedom from the New Bilibid Prison a few months ago after serving his sentence for a frustrated homicide conviction.
His freedom however, was short-lived after he found himself behind bars again Monday afternoon after he was caught with an unlicensed firearm while visiting an inmate at the Mandaue City Jail.
JO1 Rogelio Carlo Angob arrested Aballe after a .38 caliber revolver with six rounds of ammunition were found in his sling bag.
JO1 Blanche AliƱo, spokesperson of the Mandaue City Jail, said Aballe was supposed to visit Antonio Ynoc, an inmate facing illegal drug charges.
He said the jail officer on duty found the gun during a routine security inspection.
Aballe claimed he forgot to leave the gun at home and denied allegations that he attempted to sneak in the firearm.
Aballe is now under the custody of the Opao Police Station where he is detained pending the filing of charges against him.
Police said the gun would be subjected to a ballistics test to determine if the gun had been used recently.
