P6.8 million worth of drugs seized from four suspects in Negros Oriental

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Negros Oriental together with the Negros Oriental Police Office (NOPO) arrested four individuals for possession of illegal drugs in an operation at the Sibulan Port in Negros Oriental on Monday, August 19, 2019.

Seized from the four were at least a kilo of suspected shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P6,800,000.

The arrested individuals were 25-year-old Tim Bernard Las Pinas, who was the target of the operation, 23-year-old Ellery Jude Alabanzas, a university student, 23-year-old Kathleen Carol Tulabing, also a university student, and 23-year-old Lehsa Jan Taganile, who is a call centre agent.

According to a report from PDEA-7, the authorities from Negros received a tip about  illegal drugs set to be delivered to Dumaguete by suspects onboard a ferry that will dock at the Sibulan Port.

The suspects, who are now detained at the NOPO detention cell, will be facing charges for violating section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. /bmjo
