CEBU CITY, Philippines — Another artwork by Cebuano artist Ken Hensly Racho has captured worldwide attention after this was featured in the Netflix series Money Heist.
This was Racho’s second fan art featured on Netflix, a streaming service that offers a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, movies and documentaries to holders of internet connected devices.
His first fan art was featured in the The Stranger Things, an American science fiction horror web television series created by the Duffler Brothers and released on Netflix.
Racho, 30, said that the pride and honor that he felt every time his work was featured on Netflix was priceless.
He recalled that he started posting his fan art on his Facebook page last year as a hobby. He has so far posted two fan arts and would always tag Netflix every time. He was always hopeful that his artworks would get the attention of Netflix.
Racho said he was delighted when Netflix started to notice his work and acknowledge him as the creator.
The first time that Netflix recognized his fan art was on April 25, 2019.
On Monday, August 19, Netflix again posted on their official Facebook page another of Racho’s fan art with the caption, “That’s it, I’m officially organizing a heist for Kensuke Creations’ talent. How good is this La Casa de Papel fan art?”
Racho said he was very stoked that his work was again featured on Netflix and, this time, for his favorite series “La Casa de Papel” or Money Heist.
“I wasn’t really expecting anything, to be honest. Doing the art, it’s just me being obsessed with these amazing series. I felt (that) I had to make a fan art hoping (that) the cast would see it themselves when I tagged all of them! Especially Ursula aka ‘Tokyo.’(I wrote on my caption) notice me please,” Racho told CDN Digital.
Netflix did not fail him. The fan art, which took him ten days to finish, is now featured on their new series Money Heist.
Racho said that he would work two to three hours per day on his art piece.
With two of his fan arts already featured on Netflix, Racho said he now planned to binge-watch more Netflix series and movies to inspire him to do his next artwork.
We’ll be waiting for your next masterpiece Ken! /dcb
