THE Department of Health (DOH-7) advised the public to drink more water daily to avoid heat stroke during summer.
“If you have to go outside, remember to wear a hat, cap or bring an umbrella. The elderly should especially avoid going outside as much as possible to avoid heat stroke,” DOH Regional Director Jaime Bernades said.
Summer days also bring with it a lot of dust, which is why people should avoid eating food bought from sidewalk vendors.
“Street food may be contaminated and cause vomiting and upset stomachs,” Bernades said.
Only food stalls displaying the certificate, “Food Handler Seminar” is reliable and safe, he said.
“When they (vendors) have this certificate, it means they were taught how to prepare clean and safe food,” he added.
