A man was killed while two others were wounded in two separate stabbing incidents in a span of at least four hours in Cebu City last Friday.
Ricardo Rosaldo,52, died after his assailant stabbed him with a screw driver at sitio Bayabas, barangay Zapatera at 4 p.m.
Police investigation showed that Joseph Regidor approached and punched Rosaldo, who was eating tempura outside a neighbor’s house.
Rosaldo fought back. Regidor managed to get hold of a screwdriver and repeatedly stabbed Rosaldo in the back.
Rosaldo tried to flee to a nearby alley where he fell down, weakened from his wounds.
He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police later arrested Regidor and recovered the weapon allegedly used in the crime. Police are still investigating the motive behind the attack.
Colon fight
More than four hours later, Joel Estrada, 33, and Eric Romero, 43, landed in the hospital with stab wounds in their bodies.
Investigation showed that Estrada was seen chasing Romero along Panganiban Street and catching him near the corner of Colon Street at 8:30 p.m.
Estrada, who was armed with two kitchen knives, stabbed Romero. Romero grappled with Estrada for the weapon.
Romero managed to wrest one of the knives from Estrada and stabbed the victim several times in the body.
Police arrived and fired a warning shot to stop the fight. Both wounded men were brought to the hospital for treatment.
Romero was wounded in the thigh while Estrada suffered several stab wounds in the body.
