POLICE arrested a man for allegedly duping several college students in Cebu City who engaged his services for their Juniors Seniors Promenade (JS Prom).
Carl Miñoza was arrested by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) in an entrapment in a mall Monday afternoon.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the CIB, said they are expecting more complainants to show up.
The arrest stemmed from the complaint of Mariah Anya Paraz, 20, a third year college student.
Paraz said she contacted Miñoza in February and asked him if he could design a gown for her for their JS Prom on April 26.
Paraz said Miñoza agreed and asked for a P5,000 fee.
Paraz said she paid P2,500 as initial payment before referring her seven classmates to Miñoza.
Paraz said Miñoza demanded additional payments although she had yet to deliver their gowns.
The students then sought help from the police.
During the entrapment , another complainant, Jessa Chan, 21, contacted Miñoza and scheduled a meeting so she could give her additional payment.
Police said Miñoza had just accepted a marked money from Chan and when he was arrested.
Santander said although the transaction was made way back in February, Miñoza failed to present a fashion design sketch for the gowns that the complainants had ordered from her.
Miñoza refused to comment on his arrest.
