A 25-YEAR-OLD Korean businesswoman was believed to have committed suicide in her house in barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.
Jin Hye-jung, owner of Go Dong Ri Korean Restaurant in barangay Pusok, was found lifeless in her room with one end of a necktie looped around her neck and the other end tied to a curtain rod.
The curtain rod was on the floor leading the police to conclude that when Jin hanged herself, her deadweight could not be supported by the curtain rod brackets.
Investigators said there were no signs of foul play.
According to Jin’s helper, Pinky Neri, the victim arrived home past 2 a.m. after visiting a friend.
She said Jin was in a pensive mood when she sat in the dining area. Jin later went to her room.
Neri said she went to her employer’s room to wake her up since she was supposed to go to the airport to fetch her live-in partner, but there was no response when she knocked on the door several times.
Neri then sought help from their driver who forcibly opened the door.
They immediately called for emergency medical assistance and an ambulance arrived and brought Jin to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital where she was declared dead.
Her remains were brought to the Rolling Hills Funeral Homes where an autopsy would be made to determine the cause of her death.
