Pagasa warns of Domeng’s presence; DPWH told to clear rubble from road projects

At least 59 barangays in southern Cebu were warned of possible storm surges that would reach as high as 2.10 meters on Wednesday afternoon.

The Department of Science and Technology’s Project Noah issued the warning shortly after Tropical Storm Domeng entered the country early today.

Toledo City is the  most vulnerable to storm surges, according to the Project Noah-DOST office.

Pagasa Mactan chief Oscar Tabada said Domeng is moving at 65 to 80 kph and is expected to make landfall in Surigao by Thursday.

Tabada said the storm is expected to reach Cebu by Thursday evening. He said there will be more heavy rain than strong winds.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama reminded the Department of Public Works and Highways to clear all rubble and soil in their ongoing road projects in order not to clog the city’s drainage systems.

“Whatever civil works are being done, they should be vigilant in order not to affect the drainage systems,” the mayor said.
