PDEA-7 arrests two women in Kinasang-an drug raid

CEBU CITY, Philippines — Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) arrested two women in possession of an an estimated P238,000 worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Kinasang-an at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11.

The suspects were identified as Baby Rose Rama, 28, and Mae Villanueva, 30.

The two women reside in the same area.

Leia Alcantara, public information officer (PIO) of PDEA-7, said the identification of the suspects and their involvement with illegal drugs was reported by a concerned citizen.

This prompted an immediate case build up that took over a week.

Alcantara said the PDEA-7 team then conducted the operation that led to the arrest of Rama and Villanueva in their rented home.

Confiscated during the operation were three packs of shabu with an estimated weight of 35 grams and a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value amounting to P238,000.

Alcantara said the suspects can sell 300 to 500 grams of illegal drugs a week to their customers in Cebu City.

The two women are detained at the PDEA-7 detention facility in Sitio Sudlon, Barangay Lahug while cases in violation of Sections 5 and 11 in Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared to be filed against the suspects. / celr
