Korea-UC wins debut match, 3-2

The Korea-University of Cebu (UC) debuted in style, pulling off a thrilling 3-2 over Don Bosco United Football Club (DBUFC)-ERCO in the men’s open division of the 3rd BRO National Football Cup on Tuesday at the Magone football pitch of the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC).
Ji Min Ho scored the pivotal goal in the 57th minute of the game and Korea-UC held its ground on defense en route to the close victory.
Kim Dong Chan scored the first goal of the game for Korea-UC in the 20th minute but Ibo Caballero converted the equalizer for DBUFC-ERCO eight minutes later.
DBUFC-ERCO scored the go-ahead goal in the 33rd minute but Jong Han Sun kept the game tied before Ji sank the winning goal.
Meanwhile, ERCO FC bounced back from a loss to the University of Cebu (UC) Nigeria Webmasters on opening day last Monday by trouncing Airlifters FC of the Philippine Air Force, 7-1, in the other men’s open division match.
Meanwhile, the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) continued its supremacy in the under-13 and under-18 divisions.
Its Under-18 team crushed Alegria FC, 26-0, while its Under-13 squad blanked Inayawan FC, 12-0.
In the other under-18 match, DBTC edged Liloan FC, 4-3, with Agustin Roa scoring all four goals for the winning team.
In the other under-13 division, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu bowed to DBTC, 1-2, courtesy of Charles Clarence Unabia’s goal in the 17th and 25th minute.
The much awaited match between Korea-UC and UC Nigeria in the men’s open division was still being played as of press time.
