DEBATED for years, up until the Supreme Court ruled that the Reproductive Health Law is “not unconstitutional,” people held on to their respective stand on the law.
As expected, officials of the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH-7) are happy with the Supreme Court.
Lakshmi Legaspi, DOH Assistant Regional Director:
“We are only here to protect the mothers and their children. In fact, we are already implementing the program like counseling the mothers in terms of spacing the birth of their children and other family planning methods.”
Rhodora Bucoy, Coordinator of Sidlak Gender Resource Center, Central Visayas:
“The women’s groups welcome the SC decision declaring the constitutionality of the RH Law. This law upholds the rights of women especially their entitlement to quality and safe healthcare.”
“It is pro-women and pro-development in spirit. We commend the four justices who upheld the constitutionality of the law in its entirety.”
Mary Kris Alfonso:
“Against ko kay Christian man ko. (I’m against it because I’m Christian.) God says that the use of contraceptives is not good. Babies are God’s gift to us,” are her sentiments on the RH Law.
Andres Lodovice, 61-year-old:
