KN Ferraren cops men’s open crown

KN Ferraren D’ Amigos snatched the men’s open title in the football festival of the 3rd BRO National Football Cup and Festival at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Mandaue City.
KN Ferraren D’ Amigos defeated the Cebu International School (CIS), 2-0, in the finals to win the crown.
The champions gained a finals seat by staging an upset over the heavily favored University of Cebu (UC) Korea, 3-2, via penalty shootout.
CIS, meanwhile, got its ticket to the finals by winning over Tiktak FC, 2-1, also via penalty shootout.
D’ Amigo’s sister team, the KN Ferraren FC, topped the executive 45 division. They bested ERCO FC in the rankings after the double round robin matches.
In the ladies open, ERCO FC edged Don Bosco Ladies FC, 4-3, in the finals to snatch the title.
Around 100 teams competed in more than a dozen divisions in the week-long tournament organized by Engr. Keith Buyco, Engr. Rodney Orale and decorated football coach Glenn Ramos. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
