At least P1 billion worth of infrastructure projects were promised by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for Cebu City in preparation for the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) meetings next year.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said he met with Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson yesterday to discuss the agency’s projects for the city.
Of the P1 billion, P356 million are for road concreting projects in different barangays in the city. These road projects already have an approved budget and is part of a convergence program by DPWH and the Department of Tourism.
Around P700 million worth of traffic lights, flares and other traffic system equipment were proposed by the Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (CITOM).
“Singson said the DPWH is willing to help the city with this,” Rama said. He said the agency will still look into funding for the P700 million traffic system proposal.
