Salesman loses P196K in Alcoy heist

TWO men sipping ice-cold sodas in a neighborhood (sari-sari) store on a hot summer morning is a common sight this time of the year.

Cigarette salesman Rommel Estonillo, 53 and his driver, Johnny Oliveros, 26, are used to this each time they make their delivery rounds in Alcoy town, southern Cebu.

But their Thursday morning run would be different. The two men they found leisurely drinking sodas would rob them. They lost close to P200,000 cash, all proceeds from the cigarettes they sold to their customers, mostly sari-sari stores.

The victims said the two men suddenly whipped out guns and declared a hold-up. Estonillo claimed he was forced to hand over his P196,000 collection. The suspects fled on a motorbike.

Estonillo told police that the robber also took his gold ring worth P12,000.
