Ex-con returns to jail

He never learned his lesson. Five months after he regained his freedom, a 40-year-old ex-convict found himself back in jail after he created trouble in barangay Lepanto, Alegria town in southwest Cebu.

Police arrested Frediswindo Mijellano after he allegedly challenged his neighbors in sitio Libo to a fight Saturday night.

Police said a drunk Mijellano was armed with a .38 cal. revolver and two knives when he created trouble in the neighborhood.

PO1 Melvin Patoc of Alegria Police Station said police rushed to sitio Libo after they were alerted that somebody was running amok.

Police eventually arrested the suspect in front of a store owned by Janisa Nolasco. The gun and the knives were also recovered from the suspect.

“The residents are scared of him (Mijellano). He is troublesome when drunk,” Patoc said.

According to the police, Mijellano was jailed for eight years in San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City after he was convicted of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Mijellano was also charged with murder for the death of Antonio Alcala in barangay Nug-as, Alcoy town a few years. The case was eventually dismissed.

The man is also a suspect in the robbery and shooting of Paterno Navarro last April 17.
