2 plant workers killed during breaktime

TWO power plant workers were gunned down by two motorcycle-riding assailants in barangay Bato, Toledo City at noon Thursday.

Police are still investigating the motive behind the killing  of Julius Anonas Benitez,  39, and Simbrod Sobremonte, 40.

Police said the victims had just left the power plant to take a break when they were waylaid. The assailants blocked their path and  peppered them with bullets. The victims were instantly killed.

The assailants, who wore helmets, fled, said PO3 Salvador Samilla Jr. of the Toledo City Police Office.
Three spent bullets were recovered from the crime scene.

Police are also investigating the deaths of two trisikad drivers in separate shooting incidents that also happened last Thursday.

Romeo Salado Nova, 32, was ferrying a passenger when he was repeatedly shot by two gunmen who had been tailing him in barangay Poblacion, Cordova town in Mactan Island, said PO1 Rodello Librado.

Nova was taken to the town’s hospital where he was declared dead.

Police recovered seven spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol in the crime scene.

In Ronda town, southern Cebu, Joselito Condeman, 20, was resting in his trisikad when he was shot allegedly by Tito Cavada.
Condeman sustained a gunshot wound in his left armpit. He was brought to a nearby hospital but did not make it alive.  A personal grudge could be the motive behind the attack, said police.

The suspect fled after the attack.
