THE Cebu City government is allocating P300,000 in financial assistance from its city-sponsored activities account to fund the annual Gabi-i sa Kabilin on the last Friday of the month.
The program will carry the theme, “The Rise of the Queen” and it will highlight the economic and social significance of Cebu in the southern Philippines.
The Cebu City Council passed a resolution authored by Councilor James Cuenco to allocate the amount during their April 30 session.
The city’s assistance will be spent mostly on promotional materials, organizers’ T-shirts, kiddie passports for participants in the children’s activities, media and organizers’ IDs and the honorarium and accommodation of facilitators.
The council approved the amount following the March 18 letter request of Dr. Jocelyn Gerra, executive director of culture and heritage of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.
“The success of the ‘Gabii sa Kabilin’ relies on the active participation and cooperation of the local government,” Gerra said.
The Gabi-i sa Kabilin will bring participants to museums, places of historical significance and institutions in Cebu.
“The program will give visitors more than a glimpse into the past heritage and culture of Cebu,” Cuenco said.
