A HARDWARE store owner was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding assailant in barangay Tuyan, Naga City, southern Cebu.
Renante Bacus, owner of Bacus Construction Supply, was attending to a customer when the assailant arrived and peppered him with bullets past 8 a.m. yesterday.
The 39-year-old victim died on the spot with gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.
A store worker told police that the assailant wore a bonnet.
Several empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol were recovered in the crime scene,
Based on a footage caught by the store’s security camera, the assailant took the victim’s wallet before speeding off.
Police are still investigating possible motives of the attack.
THE policeman who was arrested for indiscriminate firing found himself in deeper trouble after he tested positive for illegal drug use.
The result of the drug test on PO3 Ruben Perater is still subject for confirmatory test, said Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the intelligence branch of the Cebu City Police Office.
Santander said the PNP Crime Laboratory also confirmed that the contents of four packs seized from Perater’s possession were shabu.
Santander said since the shabu weighed to 18.15 grams, Perater cannot post post bail.
Santander added they are still waiting for the paraffin test result to determine if the policeman had just fired a gun before he was arrested.
Perater, an operative of the Waterfront Police Station, was arrested Sunday for allegedly firing a gun Sunday dawn in barangay Calamba, Cebu City.
Seized from the house of Perater were an unlicensed M16 armalite rifle, a .9mm pistol magazine, ammunition and four packs of suspected shabu worth P100,000.
Perater’s companions, Med John Bernabe and Luis Gerona, were also arrested for allegedly possessing .45 caliber pistols.
A 39-YEAR-OLD man allegedly involved in selling Nubain was arrested in a buy-bust operation in barangay Kinasang-an, Cebu City.
Police said Jeffrey Solon Roque was placed under surveillance for a month before he was arrested Monday night.
SPO2 Bestilo Dabato, desk officer of the Pardo Police Station, said they started monitoring Roque after they received persistent reports of the man’s alleged illegal activity.
Police said Roque was arrested after selling an ampule of Nubain worth P200 to a policeman who acted as a poseur-buyer.
Roque allegedly admitted that he learned selling Nubain from his father.
