CEBU CITY, Philippines — A towel vendor, who moonlights as a drug peddler, was caught with P782,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City on February 17, 2020.

Juanito Villegad Sabal, 30, who was arrested at past 2 p.m. today, also admitted that among his clients were college students of a university in the barangay, said Police Major Randy Caballes, City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Sabal of Sitio Tugas, Barangay Mambaling was arrested in his home after a week of police surveillance.

Caballes said that the operation against Sabal was conducted after they received reports about his illegal activities from concerned citizens especially since they found out that his clients included the college students.

He said that Sabal was able to dispose at least 150 grams to 200 grams of suspected shabu in a week in Barangay Mambaling, which could be the reason his clients included college students.

During the buy-bust operation, Sabal was caught with 115 grams of suspected shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P782,000.

Caballes said that Sabal had already given them the names of persons, who were the source of the drugs he was selling.

He said that they would conduct a followup operation this week.

Sabal was detained at the Mambaling Police Station detention cell pending the filing of charges./dbs
