Cebu City to send 268-member delegation to PNG Games 2014

CEBU City will be represented by 268 athletes and coaches in the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC)-Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Philippine National Games 2014 set this month in Manila.
Cebu Daily News was able to secure yesterday the final list of Cebu City’s representatives from Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) chairman Edward Hayco who said the number is not yet final.
Cebu City will vie in softball, dancesport, wushu, track and field, badminton, sepak takraw, boxing, karatedo, arnis, rugby, archery, beach volleyball, volleyball, taekwondo, table tennis, basketball, swimming, chess, cycling, lawn tennis and weightlifting.
The city’s 21-member dancesports team will be bannered by world gold medalists Wilbert Aunzo, Pearl Marie Caneda and Eleanor Hayco.
They will be joined by Inque Roy Rendon, Jeffrey Benarao, Mary Mae Canillo, Sharmaine Buen Maloloy-on, Shardie Abellana, Marjorie Pasaje, John Mocorro, Mary Desiree Seraga, Samson Orlanes, Zjiane Troy Villarta, Zjiane Tracy Villarta, Jam Flores, James Bryan Camacho, Clear Diongson, Bert Kevin Diluvio, Kathlene Joy Diluvio, Mae Pabuaya and Therese Andre Quilaton.
Cebu City is also eyeing a golden finish in beach volleyball with newly-crowned 2014 Nestea Beach Volleyball Battle of Champions winners Edmar Bonono and Edward Ybanez of the University Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) leading the squad.
They will be joined by former national team member Jonrey Sasing, Louizie Tipgos, University of the Visayas’ Jade Becaldo, SWU’s Rommel Pepito, Jai-jai Verbocidad and USJ-R’s Owen Belen.
Representing Cebu in boxing are Junriel Jimenez, Marco Pumar, out-of-school youths Rodey Piala, Rio Tabogon and Jeorge Rey Edusma, Prisaa National Games medalists Ramjes Colina and Ian Refuela, Alan Refuela and Kit Ceron Garces.
Prisaa National Games 2014 gold medalists Sally Mae Siso, Hanna Espinosa, Marc Norman Enriquez and Israel Abarquez will banner Cebu City in lawn tennis. /Correspondent JADE S. VIOLETA
