A juvenile dolphin was spotted washed ashore near a resort in Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City, Tuesday morning.
The 2.3-meter long dolphin was found floating a few meters from the shore past 6 a.m. and then on the shore at 3 p.m.
Lapu-Lapu City Agricultural Technologist Adelino Padilla Sr. said the dolphin has three cuts in the upper part of its body, leading him to believe that it was hit by a motorboat propeller.
He said the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) told him that the dolphin’s skin was already peeled off when it was discovered ashore. The dolphin was buried in Lapu-Lapu City’s old dumpsite./ Xavier University Intern Kent A. Ugalde
