IMPERIAL Palace Waterpark Resort and Spa will be renamed JPark Island Resort Cebu starting June 1.

The rebranding move is to position JPark Island Resort to be known as a property not only limited to a resort and hotel, but also as a waterpark and amusement park like other upcoming projects of Philippine BXT Corp., said Rene Bacolod, the firm’s director of external affairs.

Philippine BXT Corp. runs and develops JPark Island Resort Cebu.

Bacolod said that the move coincides with their thrust to open more properties in other parts of the country with the similar packaging as Jpark Island Resort.

JPark is a combination of the name of businessman Justin Uy and his Korean partner Park Yong Jun, who are officers of the Philippine BXT Corp.

Justin Uy is the president of the company while Park is the chairman.

Uy is also the chairman of the Everjust Realty Corp. which operates the J Center Mall in Mandaue City and president of Profoods Corp., a firm which makes export quality dried mangoes.

Bacolod said they are set to launch a new property next year and two more within two to three years.

“We are looking at areas such as Boracay, Palawan and in Luzon and even abroad. We are definitely expanding and we want to leverage our growth to that of the Department of Tourism’s aggressive thrust for the country’s tourism industry,” said Bacolod.

The rebranding is anchored upon two major platforms that include being environment-friendly and technology-savvy.

“With that we are in the process of applying for a marine sanctuary for that area across our property and also looking at doing paperless transactions in the property. All these are banked on the platforms that we have set together with the new branding,” said Bacolod.

More Markets

The rebranding will not affect Cebu’s “come on” specifically from the Korean tourists according to Myla Mohammad, Philippine BXT Corp. director of sales and marketing.

“The rebranding will help us develop more new markets in the process aside from the already abundant Korean market in Cebu. We are expecing the Middle East and other Asian countries to grow further,” she said.
