Judges assigned in Cebu City’s courts said they would resume hearings in December.
“The cases have not moved since the earthquake,” Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Macaundas Hadjirasul said. Tents will be set up outside the Palace of Justice where hearings will be temporarily conducted.
Court hearings were suspended after 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Bohol and affected Cebu last October 15, 2013.
Judges will head directly to the Cebu City Jail and Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center to conduct detention cases. RTC Executive Judge Soliver Peras said they need tents for each of the 30 branches.
Jail officials complained that some cases are not moving and the population of detainees is rising. The Supreme Court has no word yet as to where court employees will be transferred.
