ROY Erecre, a suspected top leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Central Visayas, who has a bounty of P5.6 million on his head was arrested in Davao City on Wednesday.
His common law partner, Judith Jaron, who was also arrested was released after police found her clear of any pending criminal or civil case against her.
Erecre, according to the military is the head of the Komiteng Rehiyong Sentral Bisayas (KR-SB) of the Communist Party of the Philippines (Central Visayas Committee).
He was arrested in a house in Dona Vicenta Subdvision, barangay Bajada in Davao City.
Officers from the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested the alleged rebel leader in coordination with AFP Eastern Mindanao Command and the Davao City Police Office.
CIDG-7 regional chief, Senior Supt. Ritchie Posadas said that Erecre was taken to Cebu Wednesday night and later brought to Bohol early morning yesterday to be committed to the court.
According to Brig. Gen. Romeo Labador, Erecre and Jaron were monitored island-hopping in tourist destinations in Davao City.
Labador, who also heads the Joint Task Force in Region 7, said Erecre’s arrest was backed by two arrest warrants against him.
These include for robbery in band issued by Judge Felina Digal-Vano of Branch 15 of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court in the town of Bilar in Bohol and criminal of frustrated murder issued by Judge Katrina Go of Branch 49 of the Regional Trial Court in San Carlos City, Negros Oriental.
Erecre is listed no. 1 in the Periodic Status Report on Threat Groups Most Wanted Person in Visayas Region. Police has listed aliases as Toto, Pasyo, Vide and Alguna.
