Cebu City, Philippines – “It is a fun song.”

This was how Karen Ann Cabrera, popularly known as Karencitta, described her newly-released single, “Pilipina.”

The 24-year-old Cebuana singer told CDN Digital that the song wants to send good vibes to the public.

“I love dance-hall music because it reminds me of where I come from (Cebu City),” she said.

The song was written by Karencitta, Job “Cookie$” Penalosa, Jon Ingoldsby, Robin Grubert, Kenneth “Muffin” Carpina, and Karl Lister “BamBam” Cabrera.

This was recorded in Cebu City and Atlanta in the United States of America and released by Viva Music Publishing.

What makes “Pilipina” different from her previous songs is that it features Cookie$, another Cebuano artist.

“I never used to feature artists on my track unless I really like the work they have put out and I genuinely enjoy listening to their music,” she added.

Cookie$ reached out to her in 2018 to discuss collaboration plans.

“I waited for the right timing wherein he could build his own fan base, “Karencitta said.

Cookie$ is the singer behind the song “Bogo” which was released in 2019 with 3.6 million views on YouTube.

Karencitta made a name in the industry when her song “Cebuana” became viral in 2017.

The “Cebuana” music video also gained one million views in less than 24 hours after it was released online.

Other songs that she released in the previous years were “Cebuana Persuasion”, “BamBamBam”, “Shotgun”, “No Apology”, “Ooopapa”, “Luvburn”, “Cali Soul”, and “June.”

In 2018, Karencitta joined the Viva Artist Agency and made it to the cast of the film “Indak” which featured Nadine Lustre

and Sam Concepcion.

“Indak” was a 2018 film which was shot on Bantayan Island, northern Cebu where Karencitta played the best friend of Lustre. / dcb
