5 in drinking spree get boot; 3 face admin suit

THE Cebu provincial government’s Committee on Discipline and Investigation has already come up with a recommendation on eight employees caught in drinking sprees last week.

The committee decided to pull out the four job-order workers from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), said Provincial Administrator Mark Tolentino.
Tolentino said a notice has been sent to the workers’ agency notifying them that “[the Capitol] doesn’t need their service.”

The fifth casual worker’s contract will be terminated after Gov. Hilario Davide III signs the formal recommendation.

Meanwhile, the CODI will file administrative complaints against the three regular employees from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) before the Civil Service Commission.

IPHO Head Dr. Cynthia Genosolango was saddened over the fate of her staff, particularly one of them. “Maayo gyud baya unta iyang performance,” said Genosolango. (Her performance was really good.)

While it hasn’t been made clear whether these workers may still report to office in the meantime, Provincial Information Officer Ethel Natera said the three regular employees from the IPHO still reported for work yesterday.

The five from the PDRRMO have not been seen since Monday, she said.

Natera said the five, who Davide busted himself, personally visited the governor in his home to ask for forgiveness.

However, the governor’s decision is final, she said. “The governor is serious in cleansing the Capitol of idle, nonperforming employees,” said Natera.
