More than 5,000 job vacancies await to be filled in the Happy Job Fair on May 31 at the SM Trade Hall.
At least 56 companies will be participating in the fair offering local and overseas jobs, said Wesley Chiongbian, founder and chief executive officer of Mynimo.com, a job advertising portal.
Mynimo.com and Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry are organizers of the job fair, which is part of the Cebu Business Month which kicks off on May 30.
Chiongbian said according to job portal’s analytics the top job vacancies are from the business process outsourcing companies.
In the website’s analytics, call center/ Business process outsourcing (BPO) tops the job vacancy list which the employers are expecting more than 3,000 applicants, followed by skilled work/technical that is demanded by the participating companies for abroad, admin/office/clerical, and health/Medical/Science. Most overseas employers are from Middle East.
“There’s a 25% increase on the companies who hire jobs. For Mynimo.com alone, the job vacancies for 2014 increased by 60% from January to May,” Wesley Chiongbian, Founder and CEO of Mynimo.com.
Chiongbian added that 57% of the employers are looking for applicants who have one to four years experience and 25% of the employers hire applicants with entry level experience.
Felix Tiukinhoy, CBM 2014 over-all chairperson, advised the applicants to first search the company to work with, company’s environment and it’s people since it’s not all about the salary.
Chito Recamadas, the Jobs fair chairperson, added that the applicants should prepare a detailed curriculum vitae to help employers find an employee who suits what they are looking for.
