Brace for heavier traffic as classes open tomorrow.
If you don’t want to be late going to school or work, motorists and commuters should wake up early to avoid the gridlock during rush hour.
“Those who have no private vehicles should sleep early. Waking up early is very important so that they can plan ahead where they will go,” said Joy Tumulak , operations head of City Traffic Operations Management (Citom).
He said the ideal time to ride public transport in the morning is 5:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Going home, try to avoid peak hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to avoid getting caught in traffic.
Those who can afford to wait out the peak traffic “can go to the mall, church, the library or spend overtime at work if they don’t have anything to do at home,” he said.
He also encouraged motorists to read or listen to news advisories about road work or rehabilitation which are traffic-prone areas.
Drivers should check their vehicles before leaving.
Tumulak said they should remember the phrase “BLOW BAGS”, which stands for battery, lights (signal and head lights), oil, water for the engine, brakes, air, gas, and safety.
