P8M worth of shabu seized

A MOTHER and her daughter were nabbed by authorities after they allegedly claimed a package containing one kilo of shabu worth P8 million from a freight forwarder in Cebu City yesterday afternoon.

Esperideon Javier, officer-in-charge of the regional unit of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said that they received an information from their head office that a shipment of shabu will arrive in Cebu from Manila through a cargo forwarding firm.

The drugs was reportedly from Muntinlupa City and was shipped through the firm’s branch in a mall in Alabang.

PDEA operatives waited for the consignee, Editha Paul, to claim the package.

Editha, 58, was with her daughter, Maricris, 32, when they went to the forwarding firm, which Javier refused to name for security reasons.

When Editha got hold of the package, the PDEA operatives approached and arrested them.
Police found the drugs stuffed in the soles of the pairs of slippers that were in the package.

They will be charged with violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
