How to spend and cap off your 4th of July celebration

Backyard barbecues, marching bands along the street, and grand fireworks display to end the day; For most Americans, these are some of the hallmarks of a typical 4th of July celebration. However, this year is a little different.

Due to the ongoing fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, many cities and states may have to cancel their annual parades and festivities. Along with closing parks and pavilions to put a damper on large social gatherings.

However, there are plenty of ways to enjoy a patriotic holiday including our Cebuano-Americans without stepping outside. With some internet connection, outdoor space, and our imagination, the world is our oyster. So let us flip some steak indoor steak, toast to 4th of July, and flatten the curve by following these suggestions.

1. Indoor movie glamping

For those of you who do not know what glamping is; it is portmanteau of “glamorous” and “camping” all rolled into one. So, after celebrating family traditions in the morning, hop into your indoor tents at night and watch your favorite movies to cap off the day. And while you’re making popcorns, might we suggest a few movies to watch:

  1. We have “1776” for those of you who want to know what happened on the very first Independence Day.
  2. Rom-Com movie “The American President” because even the most powerful person in politics deserves to experience love.
  3. For those Action buffs, you can opt “Independence Day” and watch Will Smith fight off aliens as they try to take over Earth.

2. Enjoy quality time

Albeit summer is supposed to relax and travel, it seems like that option is off the list. So why not take time and enjoy your family’s company. Even if you see them every day, you can shirk the traditions and have a date night or family night to spend time with the people you love this celebration.
