CHIEF Supt. Prudencio “Tom” Bañas yesterday assumed his post as the new director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).
His marching order to his men is to solve the illegal drug problem in the region.
“It will be an all-out war against illegal drugs”, said Bañas, the former head of the Human Rights Office in Camp Crame.
Bañas also warned that he will not hesitate to impose disciplinary action on erring policemen and also promised to commend and reward those who will be exemplary in their performance.
Bañas also emphasized specialization of investigation techniques in intelligence units saying the fast solution of crimes depends on how operatives handle the investigation.
Bañas immediately held a command conference after yesterday’s short turnover program.
Bañas replaced Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino who was transferred to Camp Crame to head the Directorate for Police Community Relations (PCR).
Banas is a native of Iloilo City. He was assigned in Cebu a few years ago as chief of the Regional Intelligence Operation (RIO) and the defunct Presidential Anti-Crime Emergency Response (Pacer).
