CEBU businessman Richard King was shot dead by an assailant in Bajada, Davao City around 7 p.m. last night.
King, 56, was eating with staffers inside the Vital C Building in Lacson Street when a gun man entered and fired at least twice at his head, said Davao police.
King died on the spot, according to PO2 Rolito Valles of Davao’s Police Station 2.
No motive was established yet for the violence.
The slug of an undetermined caliber was found at the scene.
The gunman fled by back riding onboard a black Honda XRM motorcycle that was waiting outside the building.
At least two witnesses said the assailant was about 5 feet and 5 inches tall.
King was dining with employees in the office of Vital C, one of his companies.
King was CEO of J. Kings and Sons Inc. which operates the 40-storey Crown Regency Hotel in Cebu City.
He was also president of Fuente Triangle Realty Development Corp. (FTRDC) which built the 33-story Ramos Tower, 32-floor Ultimat Prime and 28-storey Fuente Tower 3 which dominate the Cebu City skyline.
It is also the developer of the 18-storey Citiloft.
King was also president and CEO of Vital C Health Products and founder of Boracay Multiple Developers Inc.
