AT least P3.5 million worth of shabu was seized while two drug suspects were arrested in a drug bust in barangay Apas, Cebu City at past 2 p.m. yesterday.

Senior Supt. Noli Romana, Cebu City police chief, said the packs of shabu were confiscated from Alcher Baynas, a 29-year-old resident of Apas and Don Tan, a resident of barangay Talamban.
Also confiscated from their possession was one .38 revolver.

Romana, who was accompanied by Apas barangay chairman Ramil Ayuman in the raid, said it was the biggest drug haul in Cebu City this year.

Baynas was the target of the drug bust, said Senior Insp. Eunil Avergonzado, chief of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (CAIDSOTF).

He said Tan was caught sniffing shabu near Alcher’s room.

Avergonzado described Baynas as a level two drug pusher who can sell 200 grams of drugs in a week.

“This is his biggest haul,” he said. Avergonzado said Baynas transacted with an operative who ordered P40,000 worth of shabu.

Several packs of shabu were recovered inside Baynas’ room.

Baynas’ mother Eda arrived an hour later after the operation and questioned policemen on whether they had a search warrant.

When told by one of the policemen about the value of the shabu found in her son’s room, Eda was shocked and said she only knew that he sold small amounts of shabu.

Eda said she warned her son to stop peddling drugs but he ignored her.

Baynas said he sold drugs since last year. He refused to identify his sources and cohorts.

Both Baynas and Tan are detained at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) pending the filing of charges against them.
