MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – More Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) who recently arrived in Bohol province tested positive for the coronavirus disease.

In an advisory posted Tuesday night, August 4, Governor Arthur Yap reported nine cases of the infection, of which seven were LSIs while one was an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).  Another patient was an Authorized Person Outside of Residence (APOR).

Yap said that the LSIs were from Tagbilaran City – 3 and the towns of Bilar – 2 and Trinidad – 2.  The OFW and APOR also both come from Tagbilaran City.

In a separate advisory, Tagbilaran City Mayor John Geesnell Yap said that one of their COVID-infected LSI came from Cebu while the two others came from Manila.  The 37-year-old OFW also arrived from Manila on July 24 while the APOR, a post-graduate intern, arrived from Cebu on July 26.

With the addition of the five cases, Mayor Yap said they now have six active cases of the infection with 26 recoveries, of which eight were reported on Tuesday.  His city remains free of any COVID-related fatalities, he added.

“Ato ng gipahibaw ang mga Mayor sa hingtungdan nga lungsod ug dakbayan bahin sa resulta. Nagpabilin nga gi-isolate ang mga pasyente sa ilang tagsa-tagsa ka mga isolation centers sukad sa ilang pag-abot dinhi sa atong lalawigan hangtod karong panahona,” Governor Yap said Tuesday night.

(We already informed the concerned mayors of the outcome of the testing [on SLIs].  The patients remain isolated at their designated isolation centers where they were placed since they arrived in the province and to date.)

Governor Yap said that that the Provincial Health Office (PHO) is also in coordination with the Rural Health Units and the Tagbilaran City Health Office to facilitate contact tracing.

“Balikon ko sa paghangyo ang tanan nga dili ta mokumpyansa. Sundon nato ang minimum health standards. Likayi ang pagsuroy-suroy, pagpuyo sa balay kung walay importanteng lakwon. Responsibilidad nato nga panalipdan ang atong kaugalingon batok sa COVID-19,” he said.

(I would like to reiterate my appeal that we do not let our guards down.  Observe minimum health standards.  Avoid going out of your homes if you do not have very important reasons.  It is our responsibility to protect ourselves from COVID-19.)
