CEBU CITY, Philippines — More personnel from the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) recovered from COVID-19 and were sent home on Monday morning, August 10, 2020.

Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, director of PRO-7, said that there were 79 who recovered from the PRO-7, making the total number now 420 out of the 528 who tested positive of the virus.

This means only 108 personnel are currently infected and under isolation.

Ferro reminded those who have recovered about the duties and responsibilities they have for the community.

“In a few days you will be back on your post, to serve and protect the Cebuanos,” Ferro said. “In the process of returning to work, I hope everyone has learned a lesson from this experience.”

According to Ferro, they are waiting for the results of 80 more personnel, which he hopes would all turn out negative.

The 79 personnel who were sent home today were given a “graduation ceremony” on Monday morning. They were  the 10th batch of PRO-7 personnel who recovered from COVID-19.

Ferro again encouraged the policemen to join the contact tracing team as their skills will be helpful in containing further spread of the virus.

Ferro mentioned that there were already 1,600 members of PRO-7 who graduated from the John Hopkins online tracing course, which he said is an ideal course for the recovered policemen to take to enhance their contact tracing capabilities. /bmjo
