Talisay eyes development of adventure tourism areas in Brgy Tapul

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Looking for outdoor adventure?

The city government of Talisay is now preparing for the opening of certain areas in Barangay Tapul as a tourism destination that will specifically cater to those who wanted to unwind in a natural setting, said an advisory released by the City Public Information Office (PIO) Sunday night.

Barangay Tapul that has a population of close to 2, 000 as of the 2015 population census is located 898.6 feet above sea level and is surrounded by Barangays Jaclupan, Maghaway, and Candulawan.

Personnel of the City Tourism Office (CTO) visited Barangay Tapul on Sunday, September 6, to explore its “hidden beauty.”

“As part of his Eight Point Agenda, Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas has tasked the CTO to find new tourist attractions in the city’s 22 barangays that can be visited and increase tourist visitations in those areas,” the PIO advisory reads.

“Talisay City, as a whole, has great potential for tourism because of its diverse landscape. If you’re a resident of Talisay City and love adventure, then you don’t need to go far,” it added.

PIO said that Gullas and the city’s tourism personnel already meet with barangay officials to discuss the need to come up with policies that will regulate tourism activities in their city.

“We will be drafting policies on what to do or not to do at the area. We will be releasing these policies before opening the site to the public,” PIO said.
