Burglar poses as fruit vendor to spot victims

POLICE arrested a man suspected of burgling at least 20 houses, mostly in the southern part of Cebu City.

Norman Sayson, was arrested by operatives of Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) in a follow-up operation in barangay Duljo Fatima on Saturday.

Chief Insp. Aileen Recla, IDMB chief, said Sayson was arrested after they received a report last Friday that someone broke into the house of Vicente Zabare, brother of Quiot councilman Paul Zabare.

Lost were P13,000 cash, US$800 and a camera worth P100,000.

Senior Supt. Noli Romana, chief of police of Cebu City, presented the suspect to the media yesterday saying that they have received at least 20 reports of burglary incidents in barangays Quiot and Basak with Sayson as the suspect.

Romana revealed that Sayson would pose as a fruit vendor which he uses as a front to spot possible targets. Sayson refused to comment on the allegations against him.

Recla said they will coordinate with the Pardo Police Station to identify his other victims. Robbery charges were filed against Sayson yesterday.

In Mandaue City, a 39-year-old mother was arrested for allegedly stealing items inside a mall in Mandaue City at 9:20 p.m. Saturday.

Jenjen Rosas Pepito was allegedly caught with two shopping bags containing bedsheets, apparel, branded underwear, beauty products, milk products and a sling bag that amounted to P42,000.

She was about to leave the mall when detectives of Pacific Mall arrested her. She was taken to Subangdaku Police Station.

Police also arrested 22-year-old Jomar Jumao-as of Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City. He was arrested by baranggay tanods of Centro, Mandaue City for allegedly breaking into the house of Jesymel Siaton.

The suspect allegedly stole bags, beauty products, cellphones and wrist watch that amounted to P11,000.
