CEBU CITY, Philippines—At least 80 police officers and personnel from the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) underwent a surprise drug test on Monday, December 14, 2020.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of CCPO, told reporters in a press conference that this was in line with the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) campaign to cleanse their ranks from scallawags and rogue cops.
Parilla said the 80 individuals, composed both of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel, were selected randomly.
“Anyone who will fail the drug tests, both in the initial and confirmatory, could face dismissal from service,” said Parilla in Cebuano.
The drug tests were conducted at the Camp Sotero Cabahug here and initial results are expected to be released between Tuesday and Wednesday.
