LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu—The Lapu-Lapu City Government will now allow the operation of karaoke and videoke businesses establishments in the city.

This was stated in Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan’s Executive Order no. 2020-95, or An Order Establishing Guidelines for the Operation Karaoke and Videoke Business Establishments in the City of Lapu-Lapu.

The E.O. states that operation of these establishments will be allowed after acquiring a special permit from the mayor’s office. Karaoke and videoke establishments just need to present a valid business permit for the year 2020 in applying for a special permit.

Operation of videoke and karaoke establishments were suspended due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite being allowed, operating hours of these establishments will still be regulated. They can only be open on Mondays to Fridays from 5:00 pm-10:00 pm; and on Sundays, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm only.

During these hours, establishments are required to disinfect their rooms and machines every hour.

These establishments are also allowed to serve alcoholic beverages but only limited to two bottles per customer.

The E.O. also orders the strict compliance of the minimum public health and safety standards, such as the wearing of a face mask, observance of social distancing, fifty percent venue capacity limitation, and observance of the curfew period.

Those karaoke and videoke establishments who will be found violating the E.O. shall be ordered closed immediately or have their business permit revoked and be subjected to appropriate civil, criminal, and administrative liabilities.
