Miller rules Durano triathlon

Professional off-road triathlete Joseph Miller led the list of winners in the 1st Mayor Moonyeen Durano Triathlon Cup yesterday in Sogod town, northern Cebu.

Fresh from a victory in the fourth provincial leg of the National Age Group Triathlon last month in Cagayan de Oro City, Miller maintained his winning form as he crossed the finish line at the Alegre Beach Resort in one hour, 47 minutes and 31 seconds to bag the men’s division title.

Miller, who is set to compete in next month’s prestigious Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines in Cebu, finished the 500-meter swim portion in 21 minutes and 37 seconds. He clocked 52 minutes and 55 seconds in the 15-kilometer bike leg before finishing the 2.5k run segment in 32 minutes and 59 seconds.

Finishing second was Jan Jayme Sinda (1:56.44) while Jezam Baldomar (2:00.46) completed the top three in the men’s division.

In the women’s division, Loveleinell Casidsid emerged the fastest after finishing the race with a time of 2:33.46.

Jun Marq Ocana claimed second place with a time of 2:37.38 while May Anne Mares rounded off the top three with a time of 2:45.44.

Jorry Ycong, meanwhile, lorded it over the men’s 16-29-years-old division with a time of 1:46.55. He was followed by Welmar Saavedra (2:00.14) and Stefan Lee Cagulada (2:06.02).

Ralph Eduard So and the multi-titled Aaliyah Ricci Mataragnon shared the top spot in the mini-sprint division.

Around a hundred triathletes joined the race that was accredited by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines.
