Cebu City, Philippines–A joint buy-bust operation led to the confiscation of P3.4 million worth of ‘shabu’ from a high-value target in Barangay Banilad, Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental on Monday, January 25, 2021.
The operation that led to the arrest of Ronald F. Japon was conducted by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Regions 6, 7, and 8, together with members of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and Dumaguete City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU).
The operatives conducted the buy-bust after a week-long case buildup.
Illegal drugs weighing an estimated 500 grams, or worth around P3.4 million, were seized from Japon, a 37-year-old resident of Barangay Mangnao, Dumaguete City.
PDEA-7 spokesperson Leia Albiar said that the suspect is believed to have a large network, which is the reason why PDEA-6 and PDEA-8 were involved in the operation.
“Meet-up ni sya and dinagko ang iyang disposal. Minimum niya baligya is 5 grams.”, says Albiar.
(He meets up with buyers and he disposes in large quantities. He sells a minimum of 5 grams.)
As stated in the police report, Japon is a high-valued target who is capable of disposing more or less 100 grams of ‘shabu’ per week.
The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
