The attendance of 30 public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers in a public consultation on increasing fines on colorum vehicles and other city traffic fines didn’t paralyze transportation in Metro Cebu.
This after the Cebu City government deployed 14 Kaohsiung buses and 17 Ceres buses to fetch stranded passengers today.
Rafael Yap, Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) chief, said there were a lot of passenger jeepneys that continued to ply their routes.
Greg Perez, Cebu coordinator of the Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (Piston) expected 500 member drivers to join the public consultation but only 30 members attended.
Despite the threat of a half-day transport strike, traffic was still experienced in some major thoroughfares in the city, Citom operations chief Joy Tumulak said.
