PRO-7 head wants cop dismissed

The chief of police of Central Visayas wants PO2 Bernardino Almeda out of the force.

Chief Supt. Prudencio Bañas, chief of the Police Regional Office-7, said while he wants Almeda out, he should be given due process to allow him to present his side on the controversy.

Almeda of the Borbon Municipal Police Office was arrested by his colleagues from the Provincial Intelligence Branch after he was found inside the house of suspected drug trader Edwin Cabahug during a buy-bust operation Monday afternoon.

Bañas said he’s not convinced with Almeda’s explanation that he was on a surveillance mission when the raiding team pounced on them.

“Kalokohan ‘yan. (That’s foolishness) If you are doing surveillance, you should not be inside the house,” Bañas said.

Cabahug eluded arrest, but the police managed to collar Zeev Tulod. Police seized packs suspected to contain shabu valued at P50,000, disposable lighters, the P500 marked money used in the sting operation and a digital weighing scale.

Almeda and Tulod were detained at the Consolacion Police Station.

Meanwhile, Bañas also revealed that Compostela police chief, Senior Insp. Samuel Romanillos, was relieved from his post following reports that he release a foreigner who was arrested for sniffing marijuana sticks in exchange for P50,000.

Bañas said Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac already lost his trust and confidence in Romanillos. “The police force will not tolerate wrong doings,” Bañas said.
