112 arrested in Oplan Limpyo Talisay

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Oplan Limpyo Talisay in Talisay City, Cebu done from January 27 to January 29, 2021 led to the arrest of 112 individuals.

In the series of operations led by the Talisay City Police Office, 17 were arrested for drugs, 11 for illegal gambling, 13 for surrendered firearms with expired licenses, 2 for loose firearms, 6 for Warrant and Arrest, and 63 for violation of Minimum Health Standard Protocols.

Talisay City police chief Gerard Perale said that Oplan Limpyo Talisay is a project and a frontline strategy that aims to keep Talisay City safe.

“It’s a project spearheaded by Mayor Samsam (Gullas) to rid Talisay of illegal drugs and crimes,” Perale said.

According to the police report, 14 operations were conducted for Anti-Illegal Drugs, which resulted in 17 arrests and confiscation of a total of 13.82 grams of suspected ‘shabu,’ which amounts to P93, 976 as per its dangerous drugs board value.

Also, four operations led to 11 arrests for violations on Illegal Gambling such as Tigbakay or Illegal Cockfighting, tong-its, piyat-piyat, and the illegal numbers game.

Perale also continues to encourage residents to coordinate with the authorities by following the protocols being implemented in this city located south of Cebu City.

“With regard to violators of health protocols, we continue to arrest them, detain, and charge them in court,” Perale added.

All in all, Talisay police has recorded a total of 228 quarantine violators for the month of January alone.
