SM City Cebu and SM City Consolacion join the Organization of Rehabilitative Advocates for Inclusion in the celebration of the 36th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week.
This year’s celebration, with the theme “The gift of talent and trustworthiness of PWD: Passports to Development,” aims to promote the capabilities, skills and talents of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The celebration will start with a Holy Mass on July 20 at 9 a.m. in SM City Cebu Northwing atrium and in SM City Consolacion. There will be a parade around the mall after the mass.
A talk on the Human Rights Unlimited and Employer’s Forum to be hosted by the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) will happen at 1:30 p.m. at the Event Centre of SM City Cebu. Students from different SPED schools in Cebu City will showcase their talents in a SPED-tacular show on July 22 at 1 p.m. at the Event Centre of SM City Cebu.
A talk and demo on Braille, writing system, Filipino sign language, and arts and crafts will happen on July 23 at 1 p.m. at the Event Centre.
SM Supermalls’ flagship project “Understanding Customers with Disabilities” has been instrumental in educating thousands of SM front liners like maintenance personnel, security guards and tenants around the country.
Last year, 22 SM malls including SM City Consolacion, won gold and bronze awards in the Apolinario Mabini Awards. In 2012, SM City Cebu was also named PWD Friendly Mall by the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled.
