MANILA, Philippines — It’s going to be a cold Tuesday in Metro Manila and most parts of the Philippines due to the northeast monsoon or amihan, the state weather bureau said.

In its 4 a.m. live weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that the northeast monsoon surge continues to prevail in the country.

“Northeast monsoon or amihan ang patuloy na nakakaapekto sa bansa kaya inaasahan pa rin ang malamig na simoy na hangin sa araw na ito,” weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

(The northeast monsoon continues to affect the country, and we can expect cold winds for today.)

The amihan, Aurelio said, will bring cloudy skies with rains over Eastern Visayas and the provinces of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat.

Meanwhile, the rest of Visayas, the rest of Caraga, Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, and the provinces of Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and Quezon will have cloudy skies and light rains.

And the amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

No weather disturbance is being monitored in any part of the country,  Aurelio said.
