LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines- Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan warned parents here that they will be penalized if their children will be caught roaming outside their residence.

Chan said this after the Department of Health (DOH)-7 reported that children are considered as super-spreaders of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to Chan, the city will strictly implement the stay-at-home policy for children 15 years old and below.

“Kinse anyo paubos, dili pwedeng mogawas. If ever madakpan, ma-rescued ang mga bata, ang responsable nga manubag sa maong violation mao ang ginikanan. Makamulta ang mga ginikanan gumikan sa ilang pagpabaya,” Chan said.

Meanwhile, those who are 15 years old above and 18 years old and below would still need to secure a quarantine pass before they will be allowed to go out of their residences.

“But dili buot pasabot nga mogawas sila without the quarantine pass, because if that would be the case, silang tanang manggawas ug dungan, grabeng tawo sa palibot,” he added.

Aside from this, Chan also urged senior citizens ages 65 years old and above to also comply with the stay-at-home policy, which is based on the guidelines from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases for areas under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) status. /rcg
