The Indonesian cargo vessel that drifted in the waters off barangay Tulay, Minglanilla town in southern Cebu Tuesday night was docked at the City of Naga port yesterday afternoon.
Commander Weniel Azcuña, Philippine Coast Guard-Central Visayas chief of staff, said a tugboat also operated by an Indonesain crew pulled the Nania barge to port.
“For their own safety we need to identify if the vessel is still seaworthy or not,” Azcuña said. The vessel drifted towards barangay Tulay and ran aground due to winds caused by typhoon Glenda.
The Coast Guard identified 10 Indonesian crew including the captain assigned in barge Nania. The barge captain was identified as Capt. Frapto Suminal.
The cargo vessel arrived at the City of Naga port last July 10 and unloaded one metric ton of coal for delivery to a coal plant in the City of Naga.
The crew was about to return to Indonesia when they were hit by strong winds. “So far, the Indonesian vessel is documented,” Azcuña said.
